A sanctuary for real people writing real stories.

What is it?

The Inkwell is a place to come to dip your proverbial pen anytime you need some literary fuel. Maybe that’s some clarity or encouragement, a craft question answered, fresh ideas or recommendations, or perhaps you just need a breath of beauty and joy.

This a gathering place for people who are writing (or wish to be writing!) memoir, people who wish to finish what they have started. People who are … {what’s the promise?}

…are looking for energy or mewho are engaged in the transformative power of story. The idea is to follow your curiosity, feed your creativity, come and take what you need, return whenever you need clarity, nourishment, companionship, or just a reminder that your story matters….

The Inkwell is also an ‘AI-free refuge,’ a place for writers who value true, authentic, human creativity, communication, and connection. A home for the wildly imperfect beauty of the human heart. ❤️

In short, The Inkwell is the space I've been dreaming of creating since the first group of writers finished Memoir Writing Ink and said, “That was great, but how can I stay connected and inspired, and finish my writing?”

It's just taken me a few years to figure out the specifics. ;)

What You’ll Find

Inspiring creative fuel

Monthly literary inspiration and resources that will widen your horizons, fill your heart, uplift and inspire, and replenish your creative well.

Like-Hearted Community

Connect with people who are asking many of the same questions, encountering and overcoming similar obstacles, and able to offer the generosity that memoir invites.

Writing may be a solitary endeavour, but stories are communal, and (almost?) everything is easier and more enjoyable when it is shared. 💕

Feedback

The chance to have your work read and engaged with, helping you prepare your writing to go out into the world where it belongs. :)

Craft Support

Resources on everything from structure to voice to the big questions surrounding memoir and the rich enquiry and learning that writing facilitates. We are always becoming better writers -- and people!

Live connection

Guided writing sessions, craft workshops, interviews, opportunities to connect with other writers, Q&As, deep dives and revision sessions, and even a monthly dance party. :)

Uplifting Beauty

This is not only a 'AI-free refuge' in a literary sense; it is also a place to celebrate simple beauty and sacred human joy.

Before taking this course, I felt like I was lost in a maze with no way out. I knew I had a lot to tell, and lessons in life that I could pass along to others, but I didn’t know how to put all that together and make a book out of it. I was in constant doubt. This course made me realize I could do this. And now I can look at this same maze from above and know my way out.

I call Alison ‘my angel’ because she and her work truly rescued me.
